Star Wars 1313 - a new 'darker' Star Wars game...

LucasArts have announced Star Wars 1313, a supposedly darker take on Star Wars folklore that follows the adventures of a bounty hunter working his way through the criminal underworld of Level 1313 on Coruscant.

We're promised "exotic weaponry", and "awe-inspiring cinematic sequences" and a much more mature theme than we would usual expect from a Star Wars game.

According to LucasArts president Paul Meegan, "Star Wars 1313 dives into a part of the Star Wars mythos that we've always known existed, but never had a chance to visit."

LucasArts are making full use of the Lucasfilm facilities - including help from Industrial Light & Magic and Skywalker Sound - but as we've seen from the last couple of LucasArts produced games in the saga, all the impressive code and pretty graphics in the world can't save a dull game.

Platforms and dates are expected to be unveiled at E3 at some point in the next week...
