E3 2014: Microsoft Conference Wrap-Up

Microsoft kicked off E3 2014 with their press conference, where the games took center stage. Here is what they announced.

On the pre-show, Microsoft announced a new character for Killer Instinct: Season 2, TJ Combo! TJ Combo featured in the original Killer Instinct and Killer Instinct 2, and will now return for the second season on the Xbox One. Killer Instinct: Season 2 is slated for release at the end of 2014.

As what has pretty much become a Microsoft tradition now, the debut gameplay for the next Call Of Cuty was revealed on the Xbox stage. This year in the form of Call Of Duty: Advanced Warfare, watch the gameplay below!


Next up was Forza Motorsport, with the announcement of the Nurburgring coming to Forza Motorsport 5. This track is available right now on Xbox Live for free. In terms of Forza Horizon 2, the player can create a club which friends and up to 1000 other players can join, maybe in direct competition to DriveClub on the PS4? The game will release on 30th September and you can check out the new trailer below.


Assassin's Creed: Unity also received a gameplay reveal, which also brought a first to the Assassin's Creed franchise, four play online co-op. Watch the demonstration below for more information.


Sunset Overdrive was the next game up on stage, where 8 player co-op play was announced, along with a release date of 28th October. You can check out the new gameplay below.


In what was one of the best trailers ever created, the new DLC for Dead Rising 3 was announced, the uper Ultra Dead Rising 3 Arcade Remix Hyper Edition EX Plus a. Yeah, it's incredible.


When it came to new game announcements, Microsoft hit a home run. Starting off with a new side-scroller from Moon Studies called Ori And The Blind Forest. Watch the trailer below to witness its beauty.


Next up was one of the biggest announcements of the conference, the Halo: Master Chief Collection brings Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, Halo 2: Anniversary, Halo 3 and Halo 4 all to the Xbox One. This collection will contain every single Halo multilayer map ever created, along with 6 maps from Halo 2 remastered on the Xbox One. Due to the nature of this package, 343 Studios announced custom playlists that will cover all the games included. The collection will release on 11th November, at 1080p and 60 frames per second. Just to make this package even better, the collection will also include a beta for Halo 5: Guardians which will be available in December. Watch some gameplay from the new Halo 2 multilayer below.


Next up was another side-scroller from the creators of Limbo, Inside. This game will appear first on Xbox One in early 2015, watch the announcement trailer below.


Following this, Microsoft announced Rise Of The Tomb Raider, which is due out in 2015.


At the beginning of the conference, Phil Spencer promised the return of a few old Xbox games, and this was one of them, Phantom Dust is being remastered for the Xbox One! Watch the announcement trailer below.


Platinum Games took to the stage next to announce their new Xbox Exclusive, Scalebound.


To close the show, Phil Spencer announced the return of one more Xbox franchise, Crackdown! This game is rumoured not to be released until 2016, however the trailer still looked absolutely fantastic, which you can watch below.


Overall, Microsoft did an absolutely fantastic job at showing that under Phil Spencer, Xbox is all about the games. The announcements of new IP's coupled with returning franchises gives Xbox One a very bright future. Now is a great time to pick up an Xbox One.
